"Much of what I do is inspired by the world around me, both the natural and the man made. It is often the interplay between simple geometric shapes that I may see in the roof line of a building, the structure of a bridge, or the leaves of a tree that are at the root of my next idea. I seldom know where I am going when I start a piece, it usually starts with a series of rough pencil sketches and a belief that I can somehow divine the meaning of an object in the process of building it."
