I have put some new work up for sale on my Etsy site, including the console table pictured “Up a Creek Redux “. This table was originally designed for and sold exclusively through Guild.com’s Artful home catalog but since I am no longer selling through the Artful home I am now offering it on my own. I have also once again dropped prices from 75$ to 200$ on other pieces so please take advantage of the spring sale.
Schiffer Publishing has included images of my work in another of their fine books ,to come out in the next few weeks, “Wood Art Today 2″ a survey of current trends in woodworking. I belong to a loose collective of woodworkers called “White Cross Woodworkers”(WCW) that has shared shop space for the last ten years . Together we work in a10,000 sq/ft building and collectively own most of the large machinery while each of us maintains there own bench space. This past fall we made the decision to showcase all of our talents by creating a gallery ,open to the public, in the shop and now after month’s of toil The Gallery at WCW is open. The piece pictured above “Chairform2″which I had donated to the Furniture Society for it’s annual auction sadly did not sell but I would still like to see some money go to the FS. To meet that goal I am offering the piece for 1,200$ with all proceeds being donated to the FS to support the great work they do promoting the field of furniture making. As it is time for spring cleaning I having been looking around at the crates of old work taking up floor space in my studio and thinking it is time for all this old and dear work to find a new home . In that spirit I am going to hold a studio sale starting sometime in late May
early June selling old pieces at rock bottom prices. I am going to set up either paypal or google check out on the website so people can use credit cards to buy work but if you are anywhere near Chapel Hill , NC give me a call 919-923-5772 and stop by the studio. The Furniture Society (FS)is holding its annual conference in Boone, NC June 10-13 for all those interested in the field of furniture and furniture design as well the more esoteric issues of the meaning of craft this is the best event in north america to attend. I will also being donating work to the annual FS auction which happens during the conference check out the FS website for details on the conference and the auction page to view the work I have donated and details on bidding
I have donated 2 pieces to the Houston Center For Contemporary craft for their spring fundraiser Collectors and Cocktails. The pieces I donated “Little Big Man” and Music Stand will hopefully aid in the centers fundraising
My folding console /dining table will be on exhibit at the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville ,NC The show entitled Dual Personalities: Multifunctional Contemporary Furniture Exhibition will be on view from May 25-August 10 and is a take on various North Carolina furniture makers designs for furniture that serves more than one function. This piece which I originally designed for a client in Chapel Hill in 2007 has been modified from the one shown on my website, it is 1′ shorter and has slightly different base design.
